Once again this year, Dirk’s daughter Teagan will join us on Wednesday mornings to predict who will be voted out on American Idol. She has out-picked www.dialidol.com for the last three years. THIS YEAR, Jeannette said she would buy Teagan a laptop. At least, that’s what Dirk thinks Jeannette said.

Top 12: Teagan misses the bottom three TOTALLY. Lacey goes home. Despite DialIdol’s prediction that all 12 could go home, we have to give that round to them. SCORE: Dial Idol 1 Teagan 0.

Top 11: Teagan gets two of the bottom three and is correct in her prediction that Paige would go home. DialIdol was unhelpful again, saying only Chystal Bowersox was safe. Point to Teagan. SCORE: DialIdol 1 Teagan 1.

Top 10: Teagan predicts the bottom three – Didi, Katie and Tim - perfectly! She was torn between Katie and Tim going home but finally decided on Katie. Apparently, she shouldn’t have been studying math while watching: Didi is sent home. (We later learned that on her scoresheet, Teagan had circled Didi’s name, but second-guessed herself when she made the prediction on the air.) Meanwhile, DialIdol.com said only Chrystal Bowersox was safe, but in it’s technical numbers didn’t even have Didi in the bottom three. SCORE: Teagan 2 DialIdol 1.

Top 9: Teagan manages to wake up during Spring Break to predict her bottom three – Andrew, Katie and Aaron – with Katie going home. DialIdol, meanwhile, says only Chrystal and Lee are safe but has Katie as the least likely of the rest who could go home. DialIdol said Big Mike was 2nd LEAST likely to go home, but of course, he would have been sent home except for the judges’ save. Seems like they both missed who was leaving and both had 2 of the bottom three. Tie. SCORE: Teagan 2 DialIdol 1.

Top 9 (again): Teagan sticks with the anti-Katie and Andrew theme, but this time adds Siobhan to the bottom three. Since Teagan has to pick TWO people to go home, Siobhan is removed from the list. DialIdol says that due to the margin of error, Lee, Aaron, Siobhan, Tim, Andrew and Katie all COULD go home. They put Katie and Andrew at the bottom of the pile, but since they did NOT make a call and Teagan DID - the point goes to her. Goodbye, Katie and Andrew. Hello, another point for Teagan. SCORE: Teagan 3 DialIdol 1.

Top 7: Teagan, fortified by a home full of healthy foods, boldly picks her bottom three: Tim, Aaron, and Siobhan. She’s less sure of who is going home but thinks Tim. DialIdol says ANYONE (except Chrystal) could be in the bottom three and that Aaron, Michael, Tim or Casey COULD go home. Tim goes home and Teagan is on a roll. SCORE: Teagan 4 DialIdol 1.

Top 6: Teagan stays up during ISTEP week (BOY, she could use a laptop computer, Jeannette) and makes this prediction: Mike, Aaron, and Siobhan will be in the bottom three. Teagan says that despite her “birth-giving” scream, Siobhan will be going home. DialIdol says only Aaron is safe and anybody (including Chrystal) could go home. One thing we can all agree on: let’s never have a Shania Twain night again. Teagan gets two of the bottom three, but once again, she’s right when it matters: Siobhan goes home. We can’t do math, but we think the odds of getting the last 4 in a row right are 1 in 3,024. SCORE: Teagan 5 DialIdol 1.

Top 5: Teagan’s 12 years old. Frank Sinatra died when she was 10-MONTHS-old. She admits she doesn’t know the songs much. Based on that night’s singing alone, she thinks Chrystal should go home BUT thinks Idol voters don’t vote for just one night. Who does she think will be leaving? Aaron. Meanwhile, DialIdol says… ANYONE could go home. Nice. And the results? Aaron goes home and Dirk is taking her to Las Vegas as the odds of her being right this many times is 1 in 15,120! SCORE: Teagan 6 DialIdol 1.

Top 4: Teagan comes into the studio to make her prediction so that Kristin Mazur from Fox Fort Wayne News at 10 can show Teagan at work and learn some secrets. Dirk thinks having a reporter covering the story might be the “announcer’s curse”,  like when the TV announcer says “He hasn’t missed a free throw in 300 tries” and the player then shoots an air ball. Despite having a TV camera on her, Teagan calmly predicts that if they have a bottom two, it will be Lee and Mike with Mike going home. DialIdol says anyone but Chrystal could go home.Despite the media pressure, Teagan was right again. Big Mike says goodbye and Teagan beats the 1-in-60,480 odds of being right six times in a row. Top 3: Teagan finally settles on what she wants as a reward for out-picking DialIdol.com – not a laptop, as Jeannette first suggested, but a new bed and window blinds for her room. Jeannette thinks Teagan should hold out for more, especially since the only reason she needs new blinds is because Dirk did such a bad job hanging the old ones that they fell down. As far as picks go, Teagan says Casey will be going home. And look! DialIdol.com says the same thing! Glad they finally made a real prediction. They are BOTH right so no points are awarded. SCORE Teagan 7 DialIdol 1. Odds of Teagan getting the last 7 weeks right: 1-in-181,440.

Final 2: After a great night of sleep on her new bed (the award she won for winning this year), BOTH Teagan and DialIdol.com say LEE will be the next American Idol. Teagan is right again. Odds of being right for 8 weeks in a row? 1-in-362,880.
